Marvin Classic - eBook reader for epub App Reviews

Finally, I can manage my library (some 2000 books) with Calibre and have them available on my IOS devices more or less seamlessly. The only thing I wish is that the date of import into Calibre would be used as the date added to Marvin.

Very good reading app. It took me awhile, but lately Ive been using Marvin for my reading more often than iBooks. The one feature preventing my full conversion is the lack of page numbering. Being shown the percentage of a book thats been read just doesnt do it for me. I sorely miss being able to see how many pages remain in a book Im reading, which is why, for longer books, I continue to use iBooks. I hope that the developers of Marvin have plans to enable page numbering. If not, then its likely Ill be making the switch back.

This is definitely the best e reader app for iPad and iPhone. Great integration with calibre and great interface.

One thing that makes Marvin great is that it can save you from terrible formatting. On iBooks for iOS 6 I have 2 books that render poorly, 1 shows the text in blue rather than black and the other due to the publisher stylesheet forces the page fully justified. With Marvin I can change the text colour to black and have the text be left justified.

Marvin wont sync all my books that I have copied through the iTunes data transfer and the Marvin team hasnt answered my request for technical support.

This is the best epub reader out there. It has all the epub related features I could ask for. The only thing missing for me is pdf support. Id like all my reading material to be in the same app, and not shuffle through apps. Even with a really basic pdf support, Id probably rate this 5 stars. Itd be the app Ive been dreaming of. Definitely the app to go to if epub is the only format you care about. As such, Ill have to stick to the underwhelming iBooks app.

Im really impressed with this app. It has more cool features than I know what to do with, including plenty of customization options, while its UI is attractive, organized, and easy to use. Well done, developers.

It took a couple years to find a replacement for Stanza but this is definitely it.

Marvin is the best EPUB reader around! Awesome: the Calibre integration! A must-have for everybody who wants freedom from Apple, iTunes and iBooks with all their restrictions, limitations, and annoyances. Happy EPUB reading --- I enjoy this great reader every day!

I have been using this instead of ibooks. I love that you can email epubs from the app unlike ibooks. Only improvement needed is the ability to scroll vertically when reading as can only flip pages horizontally at the moment.

A well-deserved 5-star rating. Ive tried all the major readers and none of them compare. This reader gives you more options to customize so that you can have it just the way you want it. I adjust the settings and havent had to touch them since. Well except brightness which I set to a gesture control. Truly worth it! Thanks for the great app guys!!

Marvin is such a superior ebook reader that one could justify buying an iPad just to read books with it. Nothing else comes close. The Marvin / Calibre combination cant be beaten for convenience and simplicity.

Hands down, Marvin is the best ebook reader for ios. It has numerous features and its easy to use. The app is also frequently updated. If you enjoy reading, this is a must have app!

With earlier systems this seemed the be all and end all of ebook readers and deserved at least five stars, but one of its important features is broken under iOS 8: batch uploads through calibre or Dropbox.

I used to quite like this reader. But it hangs in iOS 8 and I cant make it do anything at all. Dont buy this version if you have iOS 8.
